Things for which I thank Steve Jobs

In no particular order, and with respect to all others who also helped make the following so, these are some things Steve Jobs introduced for which I am thankful, almost daily:

• Educational computing being taken seriously
• Tablet learning being taken seriously
• A polished Unix GUI that still allows terminal access
• The cottage industry in apps
• Not having to reboot my desktop every time I turn around
• Sneakers with suits
• Computers my family can use without me having to moonlight supporting
• Same for software, like iPhoto
• Impeccable role modeling for presentations
• Home networking that's reliable and easy to setup
• Music wherever I go
• Standards-based web browsers all over (webkit)
• Truly portable computing (tapping this entry on an iPad during coffee break)
• Easier digital media storage and use: iTunes on a home server!
• Freedom from beige boxes
• Tech ads worth watching
• Casual clothing at the office
